(d) fees and payment

fees

Notarial fees depend on the number of documents and their complexity, as well as the level of attestation required (basic, legalisation with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, legalisation with Embassy or Consulate).

My basic rate for notarial work is £195 per hour subject to a minimum charge of £95 for most notarial tasks. Lower rates apply for conveyancing and probate work. I will usually be able to give a fixed quotation beforehand, and will always try to do so, so that you know the expenditure you are committing to. Complex tasks are more likely to be charged by the hour because of the difficulty in estimating the time that will be taken, and I may charge extra for out of hours work, emergencies and visits to your home or business premises if this is outside of my immediate locality.

Out of pocket expenses ('disbursements') are charged extra at cost, such as the £30 for a standard apostille from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Other typical expenses include courier and special postage fees and Companies House fees. I will advise you about the likelihood of any such costs before any work is commenced.

I do not charge VAT.

payment

Please note that, unless you have an agreement with me for a monthly account, payment is required at the time of your appointment and notarised documents will only be released after payment has been received.

Payment is accepted by cash or cheque.

Companies with ongoing requirements for notarial services are welcome to apply for a credit account. Invoices are due for payment within 30 days and may be settled by cash, cheque or bank transfer.
